There are certain places and experiences that I dream about, and this year I fulfilled that dream, photographing the iconic Musk Ox in Dovrefell. With hard work comes the reward; we snowshoed 3+ hrs up the mountain, I didn't know if we would find the Musk Ox, but as experiences go, the scenery is just breathtaking, a snow-covered paradise, totally worth it.
An hour passed. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a dark object on the ridge of the mountain top, a musk ox. It appeared to be heading in our direction. I sat patiently as I watched the animal disappear behind another ridge, hoping it would come closer to where I was sitting.
After a short time, a head appeared, and there it was less than 50 metres. It took the musk ox and me by surprise, both staring at each other in bewilderment. Then, I slowly raised my camera to my eye and started shooting.
My first Musk Ox is a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life.
