The Bengal tiger, also known as the Royal Bengal tiger or the Indian tiger, is the tiger subspecies with the largest population in the world. It is the national animal of India.

A tiger, with a pensive expression, rests her head on a fallen branch beneath a tree. This is Ranthambore National Park’s tigress Noor sheltering from the jungle heat. The more time you spend in nature, patiently observing, the luckier you will get - being in the right place at the right time to capture images with an unusual dimension, in this case the slightly wistful expression on Noor’s face.

A walk in the Park
A large tiger walks alone through the vast Ranthambore National Park in bright sunlight. As the day became hotter, this male tiger came out of his hiding place to seek a water source to cool off. Closer to nature doesn’t always mean a close up shot. Understanding biodiversity can be about considering an animal within its natural environment and the conservation of animals and plants. This was a great opportunity to get a shot of “the bigger picture”.

A tiger cub perches uncertainly on a tree branch. This young female cub is practising, starting to hone her stalking skills. A shot like this would be a gift for all nature photographers. Her concentration is evident, allowing you, as a viewer, to feel truly invisible. This is when it all comes together to create wildlife photo art.

Again, this is Ranthambore National Park’s tigress Noor stretching after a midday sleep. You can see how quickly the mood of an animal and a shot can change. Wildlife lovers and photography lovers don’t just take “a picture of a tiger”, paying attention to the subject and noticing those shifts can result in a wide variety of material. The photo of the day can be just a fraction away from a shot that wasn’t working yet.
