So you just bought your first camera or jumped to another brand whatever the reason the initial urge is to charge the battery, stick a memory card in and start shooting.
I know as I have done this, and there is nothing wrong with this, but hear me out.
Practice is key, nothing will substitute this activity, but I would highly recommend learning the basic settings and functions of your camera, and where to find them, before going out into the wide world.
This will reward you 10 fold in the field. A camera is just a tool but you need to be able to instinctively change settings in a split second as the action or environment changes in front of you.
It's boring but pick up the and flick through the manual, trust me you won't regret it,
